Collin and Mike's first performance together was 30 years ago, when Collin was 7, and they performed Mike's song the Handyman Waltz at the Fairbanks Folk Festival. This tune was featured on Mike Flynn's " The Folk Sampler '' on NPR, after its release on Mike's 2004 album, Coming Home.
The father and son duo have been performing together consistently for three decades, often where Mike is the resident "Fox Troubadour", at the Howling Dog Saloon. Mike has been performing on that 100% pure pope carpetevery year since the 70's, and has been the resident musician performing every Friday during the summer. Mike's blend of rockabilly, blues, and country is generally always folked up.
Collin plays fiddle with Mike, and in several projects in Portland Oregon. Collin's band Stackhouse & The Gardenreleased an experimental folk-pop album, Hottest Summer Yet in 2020. Collin is a member of the instrumental folk fusion band Varelse, and released his debut album, Again Again, in 2018.
This performance will feature banjo-driven alt-folk, flying fiddle, and classic blues, sung with some gravel-voiced blood harmony.
